More Comments at Google MapAffordable shokudo on the way to the Kaiyukan. I got the katsudon thinking it is a standard katsudon but it is actually made from beef! That was a pleasant surprise, but people who cant eat beef should take note. The food was really delicious and homely.
Delicious comfort food at a local establishment. I asked if there was katsu kare as that was what I was craving but it didn’t seem to be on the menu. The lady who took my order said okay. And they delivered a nice, hot plate/bowl of katsu kare. Usually katsu is made with pork, but here the katsu is made with beef.
On the way to Osaka Aquarium, you'll likely walk pass this olden style restaurant run by an old couple (and their son I think). The menu is in Japanese, but there are food replicas outside the restaurant that you can take a picture of and show the waiter to order. Tried out the oyakodon, tanindon and omurice. Omurice was good and the egg was well prepared, not overly burnt. The highest recommendation would be the oyakodon. The egg was delectable and the chicken was tender. Their broth was tasty and complimented the rice bowl extremely well.
