Kyoto, Japan｜Ponto (Kyoto-Style Okonomiyaki / Teppan-yaki)

Stumbled upon this place and with photos outside decided to go to second floor to check it out. Really cool laid back atmosphere. Enjoyed the Okonomiyaki (we choose shrimp) and fried noodles with minced chicken. Also ordered an asparagus/scallop side dish which was yummy. Great price and value including beer and wine (beer is large in an ice chilled mug which was great). I woudl recommend this place and once again great value.

We were looking for a simple meal. Found this place through the photos outside. We were warmly greeted by the chef. He helped us quick with a drink and food. The glasses were chilled which was nice. The food was really good! Super fresh and warm. Overall I recommend!

I was walking along the side street next to the river and it seemed that most people were going into food places along this road. I tend to like to eat/find places more away or that don’t look as busy. At the end of this famous road, on the left I saw a sign that said ‘please join us upstairs’, which is what I did. Because of the time and day of the week i presume, I was the only customer there, but I really enjoyed my experience and it was my first try at okonomiyaki, which did not disappoint. I strongly recommend as a place to enjoy and be somewhere not as packed as the others.
