Superb and homely atmosphere! The food is extremely affordable and delicious as well! The owners were very friendly :) the portions are super huge, we didn't notice that the set meals come with a bowl of rice as well - do order ala carte if you have a smaller appetite! Left the place with warm and full tummies

We were looking for a place for breakfast and found this hidden gem. They were open from 6:30 am. The breakfast special was very tasty and reasonable. You can choose from 3 kinds of miso soup; regular, pork (buta-jiru) or Kasu-jiru (made with sake koji - my personal favorite). You can pick 1 item from a wide selection of dishes, plus 1 egg cooked to your style, nori and rice. All that for 650 yen! We were so satisfied and happy with the quality of food, so we went twice in two days. The owner/chef was very nice and the atmosphere was very cozy. We didn't get to try lunch and dinner dishes but the menu showed good selection including Yudo-fu (Kyoto's famous tofu dish). Thank you Hatoya Diner, you made us feel so welcomed and at home.

I wanted something quick and tasty to eat, so I had the meat udon and a piece of salmon. Perfect for a quick lunch!
