Kyoto, Japan｜Zen Cafe

It is a beautiful café, tucked away in a quiet street. We found it by happenstance after wandering around and decided to pop in for lunch. You have to make a reservation on a screen just inside the building. We only waited 10-15 minutes, but it wasn't clear how long we would have to wait — this is the only aspect I'd change: being made aware of the waiting time. You can leave and return though, as they'll text you when your slot is available. A little pricey but worth it for trying the traditional sweets. The small menu serves it well as what is available is made impeccably. The sencha tea also tasted brilliant; it smelled great too!

This is a very special coffee experience in Kyoto. Arrive early and leave your cares at the door. The seasonal desserts are fabulous and the presentation of the drinks is amazing. Worth the visit and certainly an experience you will want more of.

This cafe was supposedly zen but we had two ladies constantly and and annoyingly laughing loudly and disturbing everyone till the service staff had to ask the pair to tone down in a zen cafe. Overall the atmosphere was nice and serene after the pair left. The sweet desserts and tea were very nicely prepared and the service staff is so courteous and friendly. Highly recommended to check this cafe out unless the pair reappears.
