Kyoto, Japan｜Miyakoyasai Kamo Karasuma

I got here just before lunch closing, so I had the place to myself. The salad was delicious and very fresh, with a lot of variety of vegetables. The rice and curry were great. The rice porridge was surprisingly pleasing (I don't like English rice pudding). And the udon making station was a novelty. My only disappointment is that I found this place on my last afternoon in Kyoto. I didn't try everything because I didn't have mucg time but if you're up for a mainly veggie meal, I'd highly recommend it. (At lunch they also have fry your own chicken and chips station also).

Excellent location for a salad buffet, and the lettuce was fresh. I was hoping for a larger selection of items to top my salad such as local peppers, onions, or other seasonal ingredients. However, the salad was simple with greens and a dressing. The other buffet items were quite good including a boil your own udon station, two kinds of soup, and a half dozen side dishes. The items are coded for ingredients, and this is an excellent way for those with food allergies that can't read or speak Japanese to avoid those items.

Unique and lovely experience for our vegan/vegetarian group. We enjoyed the delicious fresh Kyoto vegetables in our very own miso soup hot pots. The cooked sides were very good too, especially the cold glass noodles and squash potato salad. The only thing that could have made our feast better would be a selection of tofu, but we thoroughly enjoyed the Kyoto vegetables as the star of the show.
