More Comments at Google MapA must-eat for all visitors in Kyoto! As a Japanese person, I am constantly disappointed by the lack of traditional, authentic, home-style cooking offered in Japan. We don’t spend most of our days eating ramen, fried foods, or sushi. Rather, most of us grow up eating meals comprised of several colorful dishes, and this is exactly what this restaurant offers. I ordered the buta miso (miso pork) set, while my mother ordered the saba (fish) set. They had just the perfect balance of entree, side dishes, salad, and miso soup. The flavoring was more heavy-handed than I expected from a Kyoto restaurant, but it wasn’t overpoweringly salty or oily. It was delicious! The atmosphere is also more reminiscent of an inn than of a restaurant. There’s a cozy feel to a place. Lastly, can we talk about the price? Just ¥1000 for an authentic Japanese dinner!! No complaints.
Great place. We went for breakfast, and you only can order from breakfast menu. We have the same set with different option of salmon and mackerel. We finished amost all of them with full belly. Great traditional, healthy breakfast.
We had a wonderful, satisfying and relaxing dinner. The karaage was super delicious. It was juicy and crunchy. The grilled mackerel fish was cooked perfectly. Most importantly we felt very welcomed by the friendly and smiling staffs. Highly recommend this hidden gem for delivering a dining experience with lots of passion and soul!
