Nara, Japan｜Grill Talo

One of my favorite restaurants I’ve tried while spending a month across Japan. I found this place on accident, and was drawn in by the clean and minimal facade. I arrived at around 5:30: it was very quiet and I was seated right away. There were only two staff, the chef and the waiter, and the interior was perfectly curated to feel calming and comfortable. All of the food we ordered was so well done—my favorite dish was the pumpkin soup appetizer (I’m not normally a squash soup person), and everything was perfectly cooked and a delight to eat. If you’re in Nara for a day, highly recommend eating here. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but that’s part of what makes it so great.

I have never in my life written a review on a restaurant. I thoroughly enjoy my experience at this establishment with my partner. It's got small, well thoughtout menu (always a good sign) with quality ingredients perfectly executed. There are two gentlemen manning the helmet, a chef and his waiter. Both an absolute pleasure. You couldn't ask for a better price point for the food and service. Highly recommend for anyone who is looking for relaxing, unpretentious, well executed meal. Completely capped off a lovely evening in Nara!

First time in Nara and my partner found this beautiful restaurant, the chef and his staff were so nice, gave us kitchen front seats which we loved. We got their set menu and we left so content. The food was 10/10! If you are ever in Nara check them out. Thank you again for hosting us.
