Shimoichi, Nara, Japan｜YOI-YOI Store, Sushi Wrapped in Kakinoha Leaves

It's the best persimmon leaf sushi I've ever had. The employees are also very friendly, especially the mother who talks to me in various ways. I would like to come back in autumn because it is said that it will be wrapped in autumn leaves in autumn. But I miss this taste, so I may go again soon.

The sushi rice was fluffy and fell apart in the mouth, and the texture and flavor matched it, setting it apart from the persimmon leaf sushi I've had so far. It was also nice to feel like you could have freshly prepared food from your own kitchen.

While it was snowing today, I thought it would be different from where I usually buy it, so I visited on foot from Shimoichiguchi Station. There is a sign outside, but the entrance of the shop is along the small path next to the main street. At a glance, you might miss it without realizing it. Just when I asked, they had just made 20, so I got them freshly made. The saltiness of the mackerel is in perfect harmony with the seasoned vinegared rice. The vinegared rice is also sticky and plump, and even if the persimmon leaves are removed, the mackerel meat sticks to the vinegared rice. Also, it doesn't harden when pressed, and it doesn't fall apart and melts in your mouth with a really good feeling. I've been buying from other shops for many years, but I can't go back after receiving this one☺️ I succumbed to the temptation to eat it all before I got home, so I ate it. I need to go shopping again😅
