Kyoto, Japan｜割烹 竹茶寮

This was a surprise. Hidden away. Probably one of the best meals we have had here in Japan so far.

I wanted to eat delicious Kyoto cuisine while sightseeing, so I looked for it and stopped by for lunch. It seems that reservations are required for Shokado bento, and other set meals include ``omakase'', tempura set meal, boiled tofu set meal, etc. Since it's a Kappo restaurant and I'm traveling, I was nervous that it might be a bit difficult to enter, but the hostess was friendly and attentive to customers from beginning to end, making me feel very relaxed. When I told him honestly, ``It's been a while since I've been to Kyoto, so I'd like to eat something unique to Kyoto, what would you recommend?'' He recommended the omakase and boiled tofu set meal. Seasonal dishes include fried camonas and conger eel. It was so delicious! Yuba was included in the sashimi, scooped yuba, and tofu. Every yuba dish was delicious. In particular, it was my first time eating scooped yuba! It looks like tofu, but it was rich and delicious! At the end, rice, pickles, and red soup came out. Everything was delicious. My husband, who is from Kyoto, also tried Kyoto cuisine for the first time and was surprised at how delicious it was. Finally, I asked for a taxi, and the shop owner personally took me off. We were so happy that we were treated so kindly even when we stopped by. I would like to visit you again if I have a chance.
