Kyoto, Japan｜Mishima-Tei (Original)

Traditional sukiyaki restaurant, where both food and service were on point, especially given the price point. I sat next to locals despite being a foreigner so I guess I did not experience the negatives mentioned in other comments. Waiting staff were very attentive, and food was prepared with great care right in front of diners.

The building and dining area have a great character. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The food, especially the sukiyaki, is excellent. The restaurant even has a certificate at the entrance for the beef.

Best beef I have ever had in my life (even if it was just 3 large, thin pieces) I booked through our hotel's concierge so the supposed "rude old man" I read about in all the other reviews was very welcoming to us (I don't know what to say about that...) we ordered the pricier lunch sukiyaki set which was 15,000 yen. Well worth the hefty price. Service was excellent. We ended up really full although we only get 3 pieces of beef each because the beef was so marbled and rich and we had lots of vegetables. Even the dessert was delicious. Worth trying at least once!
