Kyoto, Japan｜Sukiyanen

Really great yakitori restaurant! We walked in (no reservation) at around 6pm on Saturday, and the place was pretty much empty. They had 2 staff who were both new/ in training, and both of them were very attentive and friendly! You have take your shoes off at the entrance way, and I recommend ordering the karaage (Japanese fried chicken), the chicken skin (kawa), and the tsukune (chicken sausage/ meatball skewer). All of these were super delicious, and we ended up ordering the karaage again! Drinks came quickly, cold and delicious. Also the interior is very quirky- a bit old fashioned with traditional tatami flooring, but a lot of demon slayer (strangely!) posters hanging up! Only down side was it was rather hot inside, but that made the drinks go down even better! I definitely recommend if you are looking for a delicious yakitori restaurant, which is close to Kyoto Station.

We used this restaurant twice in a row, and everything was so delicious. We recommend Karaage Korean style and all Yakitoris, and everything was great. The food was served very quickly, and owners are the best. Everybody who is looking for a traditional small izakaya (Japanese style bar), it is very recommendable. We will back when we visit Kyoto again.

Absolutely LOVED this restaurant. My husband and I were so tired and had sore feet after a long day, but this restaurant was warm, welcoming, and delicious! The prices are excellent and the pizza chicken yakitori was divine! We didn’t try a single thing we didn’t like. We really hoped to be able to visit again, but it just didn’t fit our schedule. Maybe someday we can go back.
