Kyoto, Japan｜Yasubee

We had to stand in line for a about 30 min, but it was worth the wait! The staff is friendly and helpful, great atmosphere. The food was served promptly, and fresh. The kitchen is open and you can see the cooks making the dishes. The center of the tables are hot iron plates on which the food is served on. Nice concept, was delicious!

Delicious okinomiyaki! We waited for an hour even though there were only 5 groups in front of us. Once inside the food arrived pretty fast after ordering. It does get a bit hot though because the grilling plate is right in front of your face even though it's only used to keep the okinomiyaki warm. Other than that it was great! And the staff was friendly too 😁 Potential con: you're allowed to smoke inside, but luckily no one did when we were dining in.

Great okonomiyaki. Surprisingly when we arrived there were a couple empty tables. Other places we tried to go required reservations so it was nice to find somewhere open to walk ins. I got the one with the noodles and shrimp. It definitely hit the spot after a long day walking around Kyoto. The restaurant does allow smoking so be aware of that. It didn't really bother me, but I think only one person was smoking in there when we were there.
