Our local tour guide suggested this place. It was a great dinner choice. It is a small place and it is mostly booked. Be sure to get a reservation.

Likely the best place you’ll ever eat/drink ever. Reserve in person a day or two before. About 10/12 seats. Wait staff was an older lady, older gentleman, middle aged lady (who drank with us and taught us local phrases), young guy who played football and likes Bayern Munich. All great. Best steak I’ve ever had. Incredible food. Ask for drinks, especially what locals are drinking / eating. Ask them what they’re having, test out your Japanese. The wait staff are lovely and funny and the vibes are immaculate. The locals were happy we were there and joked with us, even shared some of their food and recommended it. Took no pictures because I was so engrossed in the experience and great food/drinks - so here’s a photo of the outside. Felt like home despite being other side of the planet. One of my favourite places in the world. By far.

This was one of our favourite restaurants in Kyoto! It’s a tiny local place with amazing staff and great food. The chefs were so welcoming and we chatted with many locals when we ate here twice during our stay in the city. Highly recommend if you want an authentic and unique experience whilst traveling!
