More Comments at Google MapOne of the best katsu shops I've ever dined in. They have an English menu and without alcohol, expect to spend between 1000 to 2000 yen. If you order premium cuts or sets plus alcohol, expect to pay about twice the price but I assure you, the premium stuff is what you should go for. You won't regret it. The most expensive set is 2840 yen if my memory serves me correctly. It comes with a bowl of rice, a bowl of heavenly dark miso soup, 3 varieties of pickles & a nice helping of finely shaved cabbage. The cabbage, rice & soup are refillable free of charge. I could happily eat just the pickles, rice & soup, believe me. There are 2 types of katsu sauce - spicy or regular n 2 or 3 types of dressing for the cabbage. You can also choose either coarse or fine breadcrumbs. If you love the crunch, choose coarse. Seems most people do. My only regret was not having discovered Katsuriki sooner. If you really want to enjoy your meal in peace, try to go during off peak hours. Shijo is an upmarket business & shopping district so meal times can get crowded thanks to the many offices around. Enjoy! 👍👍👍 Pro tip - add a katsu egg and break it in two over your bowl of rice. Don't blame me if you get hooked! You have been warned! 🤓
A tasty tonkatsu set at a good price. Best to go after lunchtime. We were at 4 pm and the place was almost empty. There is an English menu and the staff speaks English. Rice and cabbage can be refilled for free. I recommend the coarse breaded version, the sauce signed as spicy is not spicy at all and goes super with the pork chop.
You should really try this pork cutlets in Kyoto, beside it's regular menu, if you come at dinner there will be surprises, "pork Tomahawk cutlets" for example, juicy and tender, goes very well with Himalaya salts
