The owners speak very little English but they do have an English menu. The people running the establishment were very friendly and adorable. Everything was great. The tonkatsu pieces were big compared to what I get back home and they were full of flavor. The soup was extraordinary and paired well with the veggies and tonkatsu. I believe they only take cash as I didn’t see any machines to read cards.

I stopped by for lunch after visiting Okazaki Shrine and Heian Shrine. Reservations were available, so I made a phone call before leaving Heian Shrine to secure a seat before heading over. We arrived at the store before it opened, but there were already two separate customers waiting. As soon as we opened our mouths, we and the two customers in front of us were shown to our seats, but no one else was shown to us. I was wondering why there were empty seats inside the restaurant, but it turned out that the seats were reserved 30 minutes after opening. I think it's better to make a reservation for this restaurant. "Rosu cutlet set meal" The set meal consists of the main loin cutlet, rice, pork soup, small plate, pickles, and sauce. Even as it was being fried, the aromatic smell of lard tickled my nostrils. The loin cutlet is fried to a golden brown that is neither too dark nor too white, and is coated with fine breadcrumbs, with an extremely thin coating. Although the batter is thin, the texture and crispiness of the frying makes you think it's delicious before you even taste the meat. The meat is slightly thick, cooked well enough to leave a slight pink color in the center, and has a softness that also has the chewy texture that you get when eating meat. The fatty meat has a nice umami flavor and goes perfectly with the slightly sour sauce. It has a strange taste and is delicious even when eaten with mustard on the table. Speaking of tonkatsu, it is usually served with shredded cabbage, but at Yamamoto, it is served with hand-shredded cabbage, reminiscent of a kushikatsu restaurant. This is fresh and sweet, perfect for eating with sauce. The set meal comes with a small plate of boiled dried daikon radish. The contents of the small plate seem to vary from time to time, but it seems like it comes with a so-called "obanzai" dish, and this is a very good dish, with elegant seasoning, but it's a bit juicy and the rice is smooth. The rice is a little hard and delicious depending on your taste, and you can refill it. The soup has a lot of ingredients such as pork soup, carrot, daikon radish, and burdock, and it has a slightly strong flavor, and the Japanese pepper sprinkled on top makes it typical of Kyoto. Homemade rice bran pickles are similar to furuzuke, which may be controversial. The older I like it, the older it is, so it was very delicious.
