Kyoto, Japan｜Tempura Endo Yasaka (North)

We picked Tempura Endo Yasaka as our fancy pants dinner while in Japan. There is so much good food to eat right? While it felt a bit stiff and stuffy at the beginning, the staff relaxed with us and the meal was not only fantastic... was great fun. The interaction with Chef and patrons is great and the simple instructions with each dish to ensure you enjoy it was great! If you want a great experience at this end of town... location and $ wise, then you'll be OK here. Lovely staff, great smiles and some amazing Tempura!!

The food and service here at Tempura Endo were excellent! I showed up a little early for my reservation, but they were happy to accommodate me. Staff were able to communicate with me in English as my Japanese is not great, but they were able to explain each of the courses as well as recommendations for how to correctly enjoy them. Overall I was very happy with my dinner here, I really enjoyed the food, and the service from both the chef as well as the servers were excellent.

We made a booking online without knowing that there were actually three buildings that belong to Endo. We went into the wrong one but a staff kindly brought us to the correct one. As a foreign tourist it’s kind hard to know which as there weren’t much info provided in advance. Nonetheless we were warmly welcomed by two staff in kimono and brought upstairs to a private room which was absolutely lovely. It was great that there were chairs although it was a tatami room. I’ve never had that many tempura in a row but since the koromo was so light and crispy, I never felt that it was oily or too heavy for my stomach. From the beginning till the end one dedicated staff served every course dish to us which was lovely and made us feel special. I’d love to go back there again. :)
