American review: Our chef and our waitress spoke English very well. After a day at the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and Byodo-In Temple we felt underdressed but were not treated different so there was no dress code. I had the 3000 yen meal special and my husband had the 5000 meal special. Honestly, we didn't know what we were getting but we gave complete faith that it would be good given we could see the chefs that were preparing and cooking. It was delicious! It was unlike any tempura we have ever had. We don't know the batter or the oil, but the tempura was light and cooked just perfect. The execution and display was fantastic. It's roughly like a five course meal. The waitress watched us and as we finished one course she was quick to bring the next course. Highly recommend Manten.
