Kyoto, Japan｜Umenohana

This is my second time to Umenohana(the first was before the pandemic) and their quality is still stellar! Wonderful and unique dining experience in Kyoto. The star of the meal is tofu and the accompanying dishes vary depending on the season. Highly recommend to anyone who would love to experience an affordable kaiseki-style lunch in Kyoto!

The waitresses knew a little bit English. Then we communicated by Google translate. There were more than 10 kinds small tofu dishes. The waitresses was so patience to introduce one-by-one to us. All dishes were tofu basis & mixed with fish, vegetable & others. I loved all the tastes & textures. Their chef were so amazing. Finally, we took three hours to complete all the dishes.

One of the most interesting meals we had in Kyoto! Kaiseki meal with focus on variations of tofu, with center-piece being Yuba (tofu skin) throughout the meal. All the plates were absolutely delicious, and surprisingly versatile how tofu can be prepared. Service was polite, friendly, with English menu. There are a few different meal sets to choose from, so you can also order other items with more meat, or items a la carte. Highly recommend if you are looking for something different!
