Lost through the streets of Kyoto looking for a convi that would offer us something to eat, I found this little gem lost in an alley in Kyoto, when we passed by, the minimalist concept of the place caught our attention. Upon entering we saw a small place with room for a dozen people and seeing that there were only locals inside, we decided to stay. The menu was all in Japanese and we did not have a translator, so we asked the cook to surprise us, which he pleasantly did. It offered us an incredible variety of flavors and dishes that were difficult to forget, so much so that in the end I bought t-shirts that the establishment offered because it is one of the best memories I have taken from Japan. A unique experience.

(I'm an American who does not speak Japanese, and I was here months ago. Yet I'm still taking the time to write my FIRST restaurant review EVER. That should tell you something.) This Place was very near my hotel, so I decided to stop in for a drink one night. June and Meeka (I'm sure I spelled those wrong) Were so nice and the food looked so good I decided to return with my family a few nights later for dinner. (Note: Make a reservation there are only 7 or 8 seats) We ordered 5 things off the menu, and I swear every plate was better than the last. It's the type of food that just makes you want it to never end and a bit sad when the plate is clean. Despite its tiny size this place has big flavors, a large heart, and a relaxed no rush atmosphere. June, I will miss you my friend and thank you so much for the drinks, conversation, and some of the best food I've ever had. Your passion is definitely shown in your work.

Very small but cosy restaurant. The menu is in Japanese but with the help of Google translate and the friendly staff it was very easy to order. The atmosphere is very inviting and the food is delicious. the chef clearly has a good passion and understanding of food. Would recommend if you are looking for a good date night spot in a less touristy environment.
