Kyoto, Japan｜Hageten - Kyoto Porta

had a wonderful meal at Hageten tempura restaurant near Kyoto station. I was really craving some excellent tempura and came across this place. I wasn’t certain of the way the meal was served when they brought my “set meal tray” with two empty plates, but as I looked around , I saw the staff delivering freshly cooked tempura from the kitchen area to the tables. Clearly, the tempura was very freshly made and everything was excellent. I had three tempura shrimp with delicious vegetable tempura, rice, soup, tsukemono (Japanese pickles). I hadn’t had chawanmushi in quite a while and even that savory custard was delicious. Service was perfect. As I’m remembering this dinner, I definitely want to go back and have the exact same meal again!

Tempura are crispy and crunchy. Very yummy and tasty.

Really good tempura. Staff were very attentive and explained everything. They explained items that have alcohol.
