The staff are friendly and will explain your dish as well as give a demonstration on how your dish should be cooked. They can speak English as well! The portions are small but I personally think that the quality of the food and service make the price quite reasonable! The place is also small and can only seat at most 4 people at one table. We didn't make a reservation when we came but I recommend that you do. Also I highly recommend their French Fries with Anchovies!!

We came looking for Shabu shabu and went in love with the place and the people in charge of it. When we arrived It was full so they couldnt take us. They rearranged a reservation for later and gave us a family-like service. Menú has different options including several types of shabu shabu. We chose mixed one: pork and wagyu. They taught us what they were cooking and how to prepare and mix It with the sauce to eat It. Our waitress was lovely, she spoke a few words of english and took out some notes to give us her best explanation. Food quality was uber, price was not expensive and they came out from the restaurant to say thank you and goodbye at the end. I would definitely recommend this place to eat typical shabu shabu in Kioto.

My wife and I dined here on September 27, 2023. We found the restaurant on Google Maps, as we wanted to try Shabu Shabu. And it was a pleasant surprise, we tried both Pork and Wagyu Shabu Shabu and tasted Noodles cooked in Shabu Shabu soup. Everything was delicious!!! We then tried Shabu Shabu again at other places, but this one was certainly the best. We later found out that the recipe used for Yamafuku's Shabu Shabu was a special recipe that used soy milk combined with a broth made from flying fish, we couldn't find anything else like it and that soup definitely made the difference. The meat was also delicious and melted in the mouth. What can I say then about the ambience and the serivce, we were at the counter, and the Chef and all the staff were of a kindness and attention that you can only find in Japan. They made us feel truly cared for and pampered! If we ever go back to Kyoto again, we will definitely return and I would recommend it to anyone passing through Kyoto!
