Kyoto, Japan｜Hama Sushi Kinkaku-ji

I really enjoyed the sushi at the Hama Sushi Kinkaku-ji. It was my first time visiting this chain, and it did not disappoint. The nigiri eel and tuna were better than I had at Sushiro. Hama Sushi seemed to have a wider selection as well. It took about 10 minutes to be seated, but seeing as how it was the lunch hour, that's probably faster than it might have been. I had the sweet dumplings for dessert, and they were delicious. My wife enjoyed the pudding. Both my teenage sons consider themselves sushi fans now, so Hama Sushi must be doing something right because they're pretty fussy. Recommended! As a side note, we paid the same amount for sushi for 4 people in Japan that we would have paid for one person in Canada. Remarkable!

Really fun experience to enjoy a conveyer in Kyoto. This chain is really famous for it's afordable price and the quality that goes with it. Low price means low quality, but compared to any other sushi that you could taste outside of Japan, it's definately a must try as they are really good. Went there without expecting anything, and I was reallly surprise of how good it was Most of the sushis cost 150¥ for 2 pieces. They offer also deserts and alcohol.

( It is important to recheck the sushi rice ingredients every time you dine in ) Thanks to hamazushi kinkakuji, we had the best halal sushi ever!! After checking with the restaurant, they said that the rice doesn't contain mirin or sake. However, as you order the sushi on the tablet, it is clear that there is cross contamination with the meat sushi. The staff explained that they use the same gloves to prepare all of the dishes. ( Including beef, pork ) We asked the staff if we could order our order at once and have them prepare it separately with clean gloves and they kindly said yes !! They said that the fried items are fried together so the shrimp tempura and oysters are not halal. Hamazushi staff and chefs, thank you so much!! We come here a lot and we understand that it might be hard for you to specially prepare our order separately,but every time you kindly accept our request... We always have such a great time and delicious sushi.
