Kyoto, Japan｜Sushiro - Kawaramachi Takoyakushi-dori

Visited two times in a week, mainly for the promotional items, which were super good value for money. Bluefin tuna tasting menu, consisting of three tuna sushi (including one chutoro and one otoro) for only ¥390. Promotional daily sashimi platter for only ¥1,210. The sashimi were so fresh and the selection was really good, including hotate and ikura. Also ordered one bowl of shrimp miso wanton noodles soup. It was very flavourful, but portion was a bit small for the price. Other sushi plates that I ordered were very fresh and delicious too. They have a huge variety of sushi. Free hot green tea. It's a self-service and a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. You barely have to interact with the staff. When you enter the restaurant, get a number at the reception, when your number is called, scan the QR code and go to your table number. The sushi and food items are delivered directly to you via conveyor belt after you order from the tablet. The staff will show you the final bill amount and you will take the payment code to pay at the kiosk when you exit. Expect to wait for a table during mealtimes.

Outstanding variety, value and service. There's a current seasonal promotion of 3 cuts of sushi with (1 otoro, 1 chutoro and 1 regular maguro) at ¥390. The sashimi platter at ¥1200 was so fresh with lots of good cuts (and not fillers like tamago). It's a full self service restaurant except when they need to serve you something that can't be delivered via the kaiten belt and when you need to get the bill. The staff was incredibly prompt and polite despite the place being full. A 3.9 stars by Japanese Google Maps rating standards is already very good but I think they really deserve over 4, hence I'm giving them an easy 5 and will be visiting again.

First time trying this in Japan, and mainly to compare it against the standards in Singapore to make sure it’s as good - verdict: it is as good and more affordable actually! 💴 cost us around 5700 yen for 4 pax!
