Grilled conger eel is also a great gift. It's really delicious as it is with plenty of conger umami. Yanagawa Modoki is made by adding roasted conger eel to sasagaki burdock simmered in dashi stock and binding it with eggs. My favorite is conger eel chazuke, which is made by putting conger eel on top of rice, pouring hot water over it, and adding a little soy sauce. The aroma of conger eel soup is irresistible.
