Kyoto, Japan｜Oshokuji Dokoro Asuka

(March 2023) A traditional Japanese-style place. There are 4 tables on tatami and some seats at the counter. There is an English menu and the staff speaks English. We liked it so much that we have been 2 times. The first time I took the Kyoto-style boiled tofu set (1700yen), and my husband took the kaarage set (950 ten) and yakitori (400yen). And the next time it was hot, so I took cold noodle with tempura (1300yen), and I think my husband took some set with tempura. We liked the atmosphere inside. The location is good too, as it's close to the temples. I highly recommend.

As a non-Japanese person travelling through Kyoto I really needed to vegetables to break up the weeks of meat heavy meals. The vegetable tempura set here was amazing and very affordable! I highly recommend the tofu with sweet miso as well.

Excellent for vegetarians and English speakers but very authentic. Affordable and lovely much sets for 1300. Highly recommended!
