More Comments at Google MapA very quaint little eatery not too far from kyoto station and kyoto tower. Although they spoke little English, they tried their best to converse with us and make us feel welcomed. However because of the language barrier we were it entirely able to understand the origins of the ingredients. The quintessential Japanese experience of excellent service was experienced here. The food was extremely tasty as well. The first few starters were excellent. Raw beef on toast - I could eat another 10 of these ! Sushi with raw beef and sashimi- this refreshing innovative take on sushi was delightful and extremely refreshing! Not to mention how pretty it looked! The cheese spring roll w iberico ham was such a savoury morsel and definitely morish Sukiyaki was not mind blowing but still enjoyable. Some in my ground found the beef small intestines too heavy Perhaps only the dessert pudding I wish was softer and more silky. The chefs were extremely cute, handsome and entertaining! Definitely worth the money!
Kitsune No Yomeiri Omakase style, beef focused restaurant. So glad we happened to walk by this place on the way back to our hotel. I then found the restaurant on Google maps and asked our concierge to book a reservation. My wife is pregnant and they were able to accommodate her (no raw meat) with one day's notice. The food was spectacular. The booze was reasonably priced (small carafe of sake was $6, other booze similarly priced). The service was friendly and each dish was explained (a menu with ingredients was provided, while the chef provided the cooking techniques). All Kobe (wagyu) beef. See the pictures, it was great. The "main dish" is 70g of simply prepared kobe. You can add more for a fee (50g for 2,300 yen if I recall, so like 2 ounces for $16.50 for my fellow Americans). We did not add and were full at the end of the meal. That said, I should have added more given the very reasonable price and deliciousness. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking here. It was a great meal, and since it is a newer restaurant (opened this year) it's still possible to get a reservation on shorter notice. The ginger ice cream and tea was a nice way to finish off a meat forward meal. The restaurant is located near the hub of hotels around Kyoto station. Super convenient to stroll around the area a bit after dinner (walk off some of the food baby) before heading back to our room. Forgot to take pictures of a couple courses because I was too excited to eat. Sorry.
Each plate was like an art piece, not only beautifully decorated on the plate but also the taste was beyond the expectation. The chef has a huge knowledge for food and is able to explain you the details and the thought for his own dishes. Super cozy vibe and I highly recommend for those who would like to taste Japanese Wagyu and Kyoto vegetables. I will definitely come back here again!
