[Naval curry at Shoeikan in Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture] I stayed at Hotel Amabile in the Higashi-Maizuru neighborhood of Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture. Dinner at Shoeikan, a Japanese-style western restaurant attached to the hotel. I don't think I would have used it if I hadn't stayed at Amabile, but maybe I was drawn to it. The building is connected to the hotel by a walkway. Built as an annex of the ryokan Shoeikan, which opened in 1902. A long-established ryokan that has been used by many former navy officials, including Heihachiro Togo, the first commander of the Maizuru Naval Base. The eastern district, where Shoeikan, which retains the vestiges of the Meiji era, is located, has been certified as a Japan Heritage as a historical story 'a town where you can experience the dynamism of Japan's modernization'. was selected as one of the 20 Best 20th Century Heritage Sites in Japan for its ``Naval Facilities and Urban Planning in Maizuru/Sustainable Military Grid Roads and Red Brick Facilities''. The approximately 500-square-meter two-story wooden building, which blends Japanese and Western styles, is currently in collaboration with the Maizuru Film Commission, etc. as a building that retains the taste of the Meiji era, and has produced films such as "A Man Called a Pirate" and "The Longest Day in Japan." It is said that it is also used as a location for movies. It doesn't look like a high-class western restaurant, but serves commoner dishes such as navy curry. Actually, I thought it would be a little extravagant with the course, but I gave up because I needed to make a reservation 3 days in advance. I ordered Navy curry with consommé soup and pudding for 1,800 yen. Beer was a free service for one guest (bottle).

A quaint restaurant that retains the atmosphere of an old restaurant. You can enjoy Western food while looking out at the garden. The food is carefully prepared and surprisingly reasonably priced. The navy mark on Western tableware is cool.

I used it when I played in Higashi-Maizuru. We had curry and hayashi rice. It was delicious. It is best to make a reservation.
