Beautiful space and lovely bento. We walked in without reservations and was lucky to find a spot. Friendly service despite not speaking Japanese. Food is unique and offers you many different tastes of Kyoto style cuisine.

If you want to experience traditional Japanese cuisine , you better come to this restaurant , this was our first time coming here , the food was so good !!

Absolutely fantastic restaurant overlooking the Uji river. Great Kaieski meals with particular emphasis on matcha and Japanese green tea served in a tatami room (upstairs has western tables.) A true culinary journey and well worth the price which makes it a great value. I made a reservation for lunch and chose the special meal priced at ¥7,500 or $55. Definitely a great value for what you get - almost 10 courses. There are also cheaper lunch options and dinner meals for the evening also available at higher pricer which I would love to try one day. Thanks to Miyuki and her beautiful Kimono-donning team! Outstanding hospitality and service.
