More Comments at Google MapThis is a retro nautical-themed kissaten which is a short walk from Dotonbori. You get a ship cabin feel, complete with porthole windows and upholstered seating. It’s old, but not worn out, as you can tell the owner has taken very good care of it. We had a breakfast set with coffee and sandwiches and pizza toast. My husband loved “the Popeye” (eggs and spinach sandwiches) and my pizza toast with caramelized onions was tasty. Coffee was OK. Ordering is done by your phone by scanning a QR code at the tables. No English translation, but my phone easily translated the menu with no issues at all. Please be aware that smoking is permitted, but the one smoker we saw had a large porthole window by his seat, so we never smelled smoke at all! I’d definitely return.
This old coffee shop, run by a couple for more than 40 years, was transformed from the cabin of a small boat. Showa style➕The gentle and suitable light indoors, many people come to check in and take pictures. The retro tones in the underground have a contemporary feel of Titanic/Marine Pianist. There were no tourists during the epidemic. When I came at 3 p.m., there were office workers who came to drink coffee from time to time, women with short hair reading alone, and old men smoking silently. Smoking is not allowed here, and there are many magazines and books on the bookshelves that collect Japanese coffee shops, and this shop is included in them. It seems that the boss also wants to tell new customers that their shop has been famous for a long time. Ha ha. The menu is quite extensive, and there are special menus every day on weekdays. There’s also the morning set, a homemade sandwich that doesn’t need to be poked. Although the preparation is simple, it’s crispy and fragrant. It’s great! The portion I ordered was really big, enough for 4 people for afternoon tea! There are kimchi and pork in it, which has a very special taste. I drank the milk tea ordered by my friend to the end and saw the black tea residue. No wonder it took some time and patience to wait. All in all, the taste and environment are very suitable for a person to come and sit quietly for an afternoon.
What a trip! Very unsuspecting from the street, worth the trip downstairs to hang out in this cozy cafe with comfortable seats, open windows along the canal and jazz. Thoroughly enjoyed a quiet morning here.
