Kyoto, Japan｜Kamogawa Cafe

I came here to do some writing that needed doing, intending to make a short stop for a drink and cake before finding somewhere for dinner. Well, I loved it so much here that I stayed for dinner too! Owner-san was so friendly and welcoming (he was chatting to some regulars too) and there is a gorgeous chilled out, retro vibe to the place. Not to mention everything I had was delicious. I got tea and the 日本ケーキ (Japanese cake) which was a delicious, dense banana and caramel sponge served with fresh, softly whipped cream. The teapot was really substantially sized and I was also offered rebrews of the tea leaves - they're really good quality and it never went bitter! Then for dinner I had lasagna rice which was totally yummy and very comforting writing fuel. My new favourite cafe in Kyoto ❤️

Very relaxed, airy and light bohemian feeling restaurant and cafe. Want to chill with a friend or read a book then this is your place.

I just came to live in Kyoto half a year ago. Because it is located near my home, I use it occasionally. I like drinking plum wine very much, so I order the same one every time I go 😊 I like the atmosphere of this store very much. It is very suitable to go alone. It is open late at night so you can go to the store to drink some wine and read a book. The store manager doesn't talk much but cares about the customers just right. The decoration of the store and the elaborate food and drinks can fully feel the store manager's attentive attitude. I have many memories in this store. Every time I bring a diary to record my recent life and mood. Although I don’t know how long I will stay in this block, I hope this store will always be open. 5 Ten years later, I also want to come to find my memories of Kyoto.
