Kyoto, Japan｜Mar Cafe

We came for lunch and there was no wait for a party of 5. The cafe had a very relaxed and chill vibe with a great view overlooking Kyoto. Our waitress was amazing! She was patient and did her best to speak English to help us figure out what we wanted. We were only able to order from a lunch special menu of 3 items: Hamburg with egg, chicken curry, and pasta. We tried each dish and the food was solid but not amazing.

Really tasty hamburg lunch plate with a variety of side items, including egg, quiche, salad, and vegetables. Gorgeous view from outside terrace. A hidden gem, at least for this foreigner.

Great place on the top floor. It has a student vibe to it but the food and drinks are of good quality. We only had to wave for the waiter a couple of times before they would comenover, which is the only small point of critique. They are very helpful though. We asked for espresso martinis, which they didn’t have on the menu. Then we asked for kahlua, vodka and coffee and they made the perfect espresso martini. Would recommend.
