Essex - a hotel cocktail bar in Kyoto. It's nicer than the real Essex. It was ridiculously dark, so the waiter carries a torch. Form over function. But it's very comfortable, and prices are not too steep. I recommend it if you are staying in the Century Hotel.

Very quiet, enjoyable spot to enjoy any beverage. They took great care in making my drink and it showed. Great service and I didn't think their prices were that bad at all! Quite reasonable for a quality cocktail in a nice hotel. It isn't the $3 well drink from your bar down the street but handmade, quality ingredients cocktail that will run you probably $9-$10. Totally fair in my book!

Calming and peaceful bar. Great selection of drinks and very good service. Highly recommended for a break
