Forget your typical chainstore Ramen! Forget most of the historical Ramen places! This is one of the best, if not the best Ramen in Kyoto. Everything was spot on! The noodles where so much, and yet I could have eaten a second serving, so delicious. The Menma was so good, most Menma don't deserve the same name! Such a fine, well balanced taste! The chashu is to die for! Soy sprouts fresh and crunchy! Perfect amount of green onions. And the broth.. good lord! Every spoon was so delicious I had to make embarrassing noises while eating. It was so good I could literally cry. Karaage was great as well, but the ramen man! I never imagined finding myself as an anime character in the food wars anime.

Delicious food from this out of the way little ramen shop in Kyoto. It's actually near many of the temples and sights, but just off the main intersection where everyone turns, so you won't stumble across this unless you're looking for it. The chasiu is homemade the night before and will run out if you arrive too late. They have two flavors. Shoyu and Chicken. The chicken is the best I've ever had. It's a thick thick soup, which is really unique and delicious. I would drink this by itself! The "half and half" menu is the best way to try both flavors - comes in a dual bowl and it the best value. Great little find and worth taking a 5 minute detour from Heian Shrine to grab good food in a clean, modern atmosphere. The restaurant is part of a boutique hotel so the decor is well done. When crowded you can even get served in the plush lobby. Love this place!
