Nagaokakyo, Kyoto, Japan｜Bake House Mére

Incredible little bakery that we stumbled upon on our way out of Kyoto (unfortunately). My wife tried a savoury bun with egg and bacon (?) on it... May have been one of the tastiest pastries we've eaten in Japan. We also tried the some sort of award winning bun that looked as though it could be a Mexico bun as seen in many a Chinese bakery... Delicious! Easily the best "Mexico bun" I've ever eaten. Really wished we'd found this place sooner. Great experience!

I stopped by while going to the nearby dentist. It was past 11 o'clock and the bread was sold out, so I happened to look inside the store and saw canelés, so I couldn't help but buy them. Actually, I've been curious about canelé for a long time, but I've never had the chance to see one. I was so happy that I finally found it, so I bought one each of the normal one and the matcha flavor, and when I got home, I strained half of it and ate it with my mom. My first canelé in my life. The outside was crispy and a little hard, but it was sweet and delicious like candy. The inside is moist and fluffy. It had a soft, moist texture that reminded me of a financier or pound cake. Definitely a repeat purchase 😋

A bakery that I have been patronizing for a long time. There are many types of bread that I like now. I especially buy the third melon bread every time! It is recommended
