Gorgeous authentic little soba shop, after a hot walk from Gansenji it was so refreshing. I had Shiso juice, soba set and yuzu sorbet all for less than 2000yen. The garden is beautiful too, in June the hydrangeas are blooming

A few days ago, I went to the Kizugawa era of Kyoto to enjoy the autumn leaves and shoot some pictures. It was a very nice, sunny day and our first destination was the town of Kasagi and the Kasagi-dera on Mt.Kasagi in Sōraku-gun, Kyoto-fu. It involved quite a bit of hiking on this famous historical mountain and climbing over, under and through its mysterious rocks. Afterwards we headed to Gansen-ji (岩船寺) and by then we were quite hungry and looking for a lace to have some lunch. I remembered from a previous visit to this area that, on the sloop leading to Jōruri-ji (浄瑠璃寺), there was a picturesque restaurant. The restaurant has a large garden with some benches and a large wooden barrel that is converted on the inside as a seating area. In front of the restaurant is a small pond with the branches of a Weeping Cherry tree (Shidarezakura) stretched out over it. An amazing sight in spring I assume. The The interior of the restaurant is quite simple, but the food is very nice. We had tororo soba (とろろ蕎麦-Slimy soba noodles with grated nagaimo), a delicacy. The soba noodles are served in a large bowl, you then add the broth and the grated nagaimo, mix everything well and enjoy. Along with the main tororo soba dish come some local tsukemono (pickled veggies) and some bits of konnyaku (蒟蒻). You can choose a raw egg to mix with your soba dish and tofu is an extra add on. By the way their tofu is delicious and home made. If you ever visit Jōruri-ji temple in Kizugawai county, I can heartily recommend this place.

I stopped by for lunch when I stopped by Joruriji Temple. The seats were empty, but people were coming in one after another, so I guess it's a popular restaurant. The appearance of the shop matches the surroundings very well. I had the nabeyaki udon and zenzai. The nabeyaki udon was nothing special, but it was delicious. The zenzai was also delicious. The staff at the store are very kind, so I think it's a good place to relax and take a break.
