I went for an unorthodox order this time but it still tasted very good 👍. The noodle soup is not spicy but they provide chilli on the side for spicy lovers to increase the spicyness to their own desirable level. I would like to come back to try out the other dishes, but at least for now, it deserves a high rating. I would recommend coming in groups or at least in pairs. PS: All the prices shown DO NOT include tax. Tax was included in the final price. Please take note.
The husband used to work at a famous Chinese restaurant. Since I didn't have a day off, I took paid time to visit here. Full lunch set. A restaurant with a typical Kyoto appearance, renovated from an old-fashioned Kyoto townhouse. When you enter the entrance, there is a shoe rack, and when you take off your shoes and go to the back, you will find a spacious counter seat next to a sunken kotatsu. The creaking sound of the floorboards as you walk on the dim light creates an atmosphere. The staff are probably the owner and his wife. Dandan noodles set. For 1,000 yen, it comes with dessert or rice after the meal. The dessert was almond tofu, so I had it as dessert. It seemed quite busy with the wife moving around, and the customer service didn't seem unpleasant. On the other hand, the shop owner seems quiet, but he also seems a little irritated. This feeling is probably the reason why people write about it as being unfriendly. Serving takes about 10 minutes. Although the sesame flavor of the dandan noodles is not very strong, the flavor of the soup is quite strong, and the salty and sour taste is well-balanced and delicious. The noodles are thin and stick together well, and although you can't see it in the photo, the meat miso is also sinking to the bottom of the bowl. I once went to eat Dandan noodles while walking around Tokyo, and the seasoning is fundamentally different between those who have worked in ramen farms and those who have worked in Chinese farms. It's a typical Chinese seasoning with a hint of sourness. The only ingredient is bean sprouts, which makes it a bit boring compared to what was served in the past, but the soup alone is worth drinking. I think the almond tofu after the meal is also homemade. There was a bit of an apricot taste, but I liked that it wasn't too sweet. It's different from apricot tofu, which is served with a strangely sweet syrup. The cost performance is also good, and only people who appreciate the value should visit this store.
Japanese pepper, flower pepper, black pepper, etc.? Some of the menu items are very spicy, but they're not just spicy, they have a deep flavor. . . There were a lot of standard items, but there were also some menu items that felt original. It was also fun to be able to order by choosing the ingredients and cooking method. I ordered stir-fried blue crab with black pepper sauce, and it was so delicious that I wanted a second helping. The cost performance was surprisingly good. I definitely want to stop by next time I go to Kyoto.
