Kyoto, Japan｜Tenshu

I walked at Tenshu near closing time but nevertheless they welcomed me. I enjoyed very much the tempura perfection offered by the restaurant and also all the complementary appetizers and the soup on the menu. Needless to say the service was impeccable and the experience very authentic. Would go back anytime.

Pretty satisfying tempura at Tenshu. The lunch selections are good value but limited options. I love eel and it was the first time enjoying large amount of it without burning a hole in my wallet. The chef is experienced and the technic he used for the large shrimp tempura was entertaining to watch. They will dip the tempura in a dark sweet and savory sauce before plating so the tempura won’t be crispy and crunchy as many expected but it adds to the flavor. Note an entire meal of tempura can be quite filling and heavy. Overall, good bowl of tempura!

Super value for money tempura, especially for lunch! The shrimp set is very delicious.
