Kyoto, Japan｜Pontocho Suishin

Loved it! To manage expectations, there will be no revelations or tears of happiness expected at big name kaiseki restaurants, but my Seasonal Kyoto kaiseki course was absolutely delicious. The ambience is very cozy and the staff super friendly. Great value, too!

We were lucky to get a seat straight away and it wasn't such a busy Fri evening. We sat on the 1st floor which had a warm atmosphere (upstairs seems a bit for flat in atmosphere). For the location this was really a value for money place. Food quality was good and everything we ate was delicious and above average for what we've eaten in Japan (including Tokyo where we live). Red wine was served cold rather than room temp and tasted standard though with the generous portions, not complaining! ~ ¥11,000 for 10 a la carte dishes and 4 glasses of wine (2 hungry adults) English menu available.

Very good Japanese kaiseki cuisine, I ordered a 4400¥ set meal, around ten sets, very full In the end, the food is exquisite, delicious and fresh
