More Comments at Google MapVery friendly staff - gentleman helped us in English. Great price-quality ratio. PS: my wife didn't like it that much though - said it felt too heavy for her taste. PPS: The seats on the back look quite authentic.
I felt retro with the atmosphere of the interior that was a little old. Parents and children ordered steak and roast beef set meals for a large number of people. The sashimi and freshly fried crispy tempura were delicious and very voluminous. It was also fun to have the solid fuel set on fire and grill the steak meat on the iron plate, just like in a ryokan.
Minokichi Group is a long-established family restaurant with only two restaurants in Kyoto, one here and one near Kinkakuji Temple. It is run by hand, rather than under the usual supervision. Perhaps because of this, the quality of the food is high, and the aroma of the chawanmushi soup stock is outstanding. Although it's not Japanese food, I was very satisfied with the meatiness of the hamburger steak made with coarsely ground meat. I can feel his pride in his very polite customer service, such as when he took away the wasabi from the tekka bowl ordered by his elementary school daughter. Does the age of the equipment make sense? I'm a local, but I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting for sightseeing, especially if you like going to supermarkets while traveling. It's only available in Kyoto, right?
