Kyoto, Japan｜Yuzugen Pontocho

Went on a Monday night at 6+, was told they are full house for the night, asked if we could make a reservation for wednesday instead, they told us we can come back at 8pm itself, went around the street while waiting for time to pass. Went back 10 mins before 8pm and was let it briefly, staff were accommodating and try their best to respond in English, I enjoyed their Yuzu hotpot, yuzu gyoza and yuzu juice as a major yuzu lover. My partner however, didn't find it that fantastic. Time given to dine is 2 hours which is sufficient. Recommend to try if you are around the area, especially if you are a fan of Yuzu.

It's a cozy little place with yuzu dumplings(which was what I went to try) they also have other interesting dishes as well. The dumplings were really good. The yellow dumplings were normal spice level with more yuzu, and the green was a little more spicy with yuzu as well.

Delicious food, but the service was even better. The staff were wonderful — very friendly and attentive and we had a great time talking to them and watching them prepare the beautiful yuzu gyoza (pictured). Would definitely return if back in Kyoto!
