More Comments at Google MapWe had the kyoto style unagi prix fix lunch. it was delicious. the sashimi outclassed most of what we got at a more expensive omakase place in Osaka, and the unagi was simply some of the best I've ever had; light, fluffy, crunchy skin... perfection. the restaurant itself cultivates a very zen atmosohere and the staff was kind and attentive. only note is I wish they had included more eel specific appetizers in the lunch course. I had to order the grilled unagi liver and fried bones separately, though both were well worth it!
Great unagi I had here. Very tasty and roasted/grilled stick that is a bit crispy. Excellent preparation and taste. The decoration of the place is elegant with a good taste.
Less than two-block behind the Main Street of Gion is a hidden unagi restaurant- Kikugawa. We stumbled upon the place after visiting Jouvaud pastry shop few doors down. We ordered the Kikugawa Ippon Una-just set, consisting of a whole eel, and Hitsumabushi set. Hitsumabushi set is a way of serving eel in different style- as is, with toppings or with soup. Both priced at affordable rate. Definitely a satisfying dinner in Kyoto!
