Well this was a fantastic experience. Chef Shohei was such a great entertainer and magician with the food. It isn't often I get to try new food textures, experience, and flavor combinations that are utterly alien to me. AND I LOVED IT. I would highly recommend getting the sake pairing too. It was six different drinks that matched incredibly well with every meal. I can't wait to the monthly changing menus.

If you're wanting an intimate and elevated meal one day in Kyoto, I can't recommend Kozo enough. The service was impeccable and the chefs were a delight to watch. Shohei-san was an absolute wonderful host and explained each dish wonderfully. His English was quite strong and we all enjoyed exchanging languages with one another. He also fed me ample bread to make sure I didn't leave hungry - not that it was necessary as there was so much food. A wonderful spot - pro tip: get the bar seating. Nothing more spectacular than seeing your amazing food being made in such a precise, efficient and clean way. I'm looking forward to coming back one day.

If you wanna try sth different, this is the place to go. Young ambitious chefs provide Japanese-based French, which surprisingly goes well with sake. The ambience is tranquil like the kyoto imperial palace. It is loved by locals but surely welcome to outsiders (like me) too!
