Sakurai, Nara, Japan｜Somen noodle Morisho

The chaya (tea house) was cozy and felt traditional. It was rather busy when we were there and needed to wait a while before the waiting staff was available. The nyuu men (traditional soup noodle) was deliciously prepared and the flavour wasn’t too overpowering. The companion kuro-mame (black beans) provided a sweet and savoury addition to the taste of you chose to have it. The kaki no ha zushi (persimmon leave wrapped sushi) were well prepared with the right amount of stickiness. The meal provided a warm satisfying lunch amid the winter chill.

It isn't a trip to Miwa-Jinja without getting some nyumen at this shop. The noodles and broth are simple, but amazing. It is the definition of a traditional Japanese restaurant - only a couple things on the menu, but each item is top quality.

Best somen noodles in this area. Must try if you are visiting the nearby shrine.
