Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan｜Malt Bar Kirkwall

Absolutely amazing place. They have a great selection of whiskey from all over and the owner is knowledgeable and nice. It's my first time seeing snifters with lids to capture the aroma. Pretty cool. Gaijin friendly and takes card.

I travelled alone in Sapporo and don't speak Japanese. To find a bar a was relying on google reviews. I am very happy I found this bar. Stom (owner - not sure if the name is correctly written) was super friendly and could speak english. The whiskeys and the recommendations are great. Stom helped me to sign up for the Nikka Distillery tour, as the web page was in Japanese. As I also was looking for a sushi omakase place, he asked the other guests for recommendations. I also celebrated Christmas in the bar. One guest did an excursion to Otaru and had some pastry with her. She shared it with me and Stom and we had a cozy Christmas in the bar :) In short: Super friendly and helpful with good drinks.

A Must Go To when in Sapporo. Ask for a variety of tastings and for owner to surprise you. What a treat. So many whiskeys I have not seen before - even when I was in Scotland. Great place.
