Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan｜Kanako's Soup Curry Shop

This was the unexpected star culinary discovery of our visit. They have an English menu available once seated. We had never had Japanese style soup curry, but it is fantastic. One of us ordered the “combo” of curry and then a side of rice with a pumpkin fritter and another with a side of rice with pork belly. Both were fantastic. The soup curry bowl comes with the delicious broth and piping hot fresh veggies. You’ll need to indicate your preferred level of spice. We went with 30 (out of 100). If you’re good with spice, 50 is probably a suitable maximum. Beyond that and it could become a little more about tastebud survival than appreciating the warm blend of elegant flavors this restaurant delivers. To pay, we simply went toward the kitchen area where the register is located once finished with our meal and settled up with the server. Highly recommend especially on a chilly day or evening.

Wonderful little soup curry shop. If you're in Hokkaido, you need to try soup curry. I had the sweet pumpkin croquette curry soup. It came with rice and a delicious pumpkin croquette. Absolutely no complaints, price is fair too. The staff was kind and quick. They have a full English menu which helps for people like me who don't speak the best Japanese.

Very delicious meal. Even the topping vegetables are well cooked. Thank you. By the way room temperature is a bit too hot, have to eat very slowly.
