Hands down the best meal I’ve had in Japan. Chef Shimura shows such dedication to the meal, from hand picking the best ingredients to the detail in the final tempura batter. He is also super personable and funny, and ensures that the dinner is a fun time all around. Also the homemade fermented raspberry juice is amazing, make sure to ask for it if you visit. Great food, great time!

Really enjoyed the tempura omakase (my first time) here! From the entrance to exit, every staff was very kind and attentive while making conversation with me and other guests. Chef Shimura san knows what he’s doing and he’s a pretty relaxed and funny guy too. Each dish was explained in detail and he also taught me some interesting things too about food. There were dishes that I’ve never had in the past and packed with umami. The champagne and special juice (order the fruit juice!!) were also delicious! I would return in a heartbeat to tempura ono. It wasn’t even that expensive considering two drinks (albeit dollar was strong at the time still). Here’s some notes from the chef for future guests that he politely requested: 1. Please arrive on time as it is difficult to proceed with omakase since it is tempura based. Apparently many foreigners don’t care to arrive on time, many arriving hours later with no notice. 2. Please be presentable. Meaning not wearing tank tops or such as it is an upscale setting. Even just a casual shirt or polo would be ok. It seems foreigners wore a tees and tanks in the past. 3. In an event of cancellation or change of time, please contact asap as there’s others on the wait list. Thank you!
