A privately run drive-in that makes you feel Showa era. If you think so at first impression, what a founding 250 years! Originally, Chikara Mochi was sold at Kumanodaira. It seems that they used to sell the station at the former Kumanodaira Station, but when the line was discontinued, they moved to the current location and started a drive-in. For lunch, we ordered the Sauce Katsu Don and the specialty Chikara Mochi separately. The sauce cutlet bowl is a crispy fried chicken cutlet, so it's light and easy to eat. I ate chikara mochi instead of dessert after dinner, but the strained bean paste was smooth, and the mochi made from mochi rice was also delicious. I tried to buy it as a souvenir to take home, but gave up because it didn't last long. It was a shop like a historical heritage, rustic in a good way (^_^)v

I fell in love at first sight and ordered it because I saw the word "Sauce Katsudon" on the door of the store. The depth of this flavor permeates your tired body. Full recovery of stamina. Energy is also charged. Thank you for the meal! Also, the garnished takuan is super delicious. Inside the store, there are photos of the discontinued Shinetsu Main Line between Yokogawa and Karuizawa, during its heyday, and it seems that materials from that time are also on sale.

It's a nice store after walking along Nakasendo. Soba Chikara Mochi Set 910 yen. The soba noodles were chewy and delicious. There was no soba-yu, though. I wonder if it was also made into karami mochi? But after walking, the red bean paste is refreshing.
