Minakami, Gunma, Japan｜Syokudo and Teishoku restaurant

While making our way back to Tokyo from rafting, we stumbled upon this charming establishment and decided to stop for lunch. Upon entering, the traditional Japanese ambiance immediately put us at ease and created a pleasant atmosphere. The owner, a delightful elderly lady with a warm smile, extended a gracious welcome to us. We ordered cold udon noodles and curry rice, and to our pleasant surprise, she offered to prepare a pork-free meal for our Muslim friend without us even asking. Her generosity was truly heartening. 😊 After enjoying our lunch, she treated us to a delightful surprise – complimentary tonyaki with miso sauce and a refreshing shaved ice dessert. This unexpected gesture added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. The restaurant itself boasts ample space, comfortably accommodating around 20 people. With the combination of the owner's kindness, scrumptious food, and these complimentary treats, I wholeheartedly recommend this place. It not only offers delicious cuisine but also an exceptional and heartwarming dining experience.

This place is GREAT. So authentic to the region and so simple but done SO WELL. My parents and I came here for lunch because we had some time to chill before we had to catch our train and we weren’t sure of what to expect but we were sufficiently blown away. The broth was definitely a complex compilation of different stocks and flavors and the noodles appeared to be homemade (of made somewhere locally). The owner and chef were extremely accommodating with my egg allergy and take care in making sure that I had other extra items in my dish in place of the egg. If you are trying to have an authentic local experience, I definitely recommend this place. I will certainly be going back!!!!

I arrived at Minakami Station with an 18-ticket trip alone just to step on the snow! ️haha I had about 40 minutes until my return time, so I entered this shop in front of Minakami Station! ️ A friendly landlady!? ️ It was delicious with a slightly spicy miso flavor! ️ I was looking outside until the ordered items came out, and a kitty came and I was watching it!! ️ Apparently, a stray cat liked this shop and often came to eat food! ️Is it a beckoning cat for the friendly proprietress!?When I asked, she talked about various cats! ️haha Winter is still limited to warm food!! ️ Tea was self-service, so I got it later! ️haha It was a nice shop! ️ If you go to Minakami Station again, I would like to go to eat! ️ please do your best in business without losing to the snow!! ️
