Nikko, Tochigi, Japan｜Chez Hoshino

We chose the basic set dinner and it was very wonderful. The trout appetiser tasted fresh. The grilled trout was grilled perfectly with crispy skin and tasted very delicious. Dessert was sesame panna cotta which was also very well made and tasted of fresh sesame. Every dish was prepared with care and detail. The waitress was very attentive. Chef Hoshino came out to greet us before we left. English menu is available. There are other set menus but I only took a photo of the set we had.

One of the few places in Chuzenji that opens for dinner. Very spacious restaurant, manned only by an elderly couple. Dinner course starts from 3,200 yen. The main dish I picked was a whole trout from the lake a la meuniere because I wanted something local. It was fresh, soft, and tasty. Great experience.

Very nice location. Good food with the Japonised Western Dishes in combination with selection of vines. Will come back
