Nikko, Tochigi, Japan｜食堂ふく

The only open restaurant we could find on an October lunchtime so we had to wait 40mins before eating (but that was a great opportunity to relax at the municipal foot bath Onsen about 100m away). When we got in it was just a small room with a lovely Japanese vibe. We ate the vegetables platter and it was excellent and service was attentive throughout. Even if it wasn’t the only place for lunch in autumn it would still be highly recommended.

An amazing discovery, you'd never guess as you arrive. The food was excellent ... the best we've had during our trip. Strongly recommend the trout. A real local experience, especially as we'd been told there were no restaurants in Yunoko. Beware though. Arrive early and wait as it's first come first serve and when there is no more food they close ... and there was a queue starting at 11:45am for midday.

Got the Japanese lunch set. The service was really nice. The tea was exceptional, especially in a cold weather. The meal was delicious with many side dishes and they all are properly made. Nice place to stop if you visit Yumoto to have your meal
